Identity documents and international protection

How do you ask your documents back?

Send an e-mail to CGRA-CGVS.classement@ibz.fgov.be in Dutch, French, German or English.

Is your request urgent? Mention this.

What do you state in your e-mail?

Please state the reasons why you want your identity documents back. Please also include the necessary supporting documents.

Are you an approved refugee? Getting back your international passport is only possible when you have a valid reason. If the CGRS (CGRA/CGVS) does not consider your reason sufficient, the CGRS can withdraw your refugee status. Original documents other than proof of identity will be returned on request.

When can you pick up the documents?

You will receive an invitation to collect your identity documents by e-mail. This may take several days. The invitation will state where and when you have to present yourself.

Who can collect the documents?

You must collect your documents in person and sign for receipt. You can, however, pick up your minor children's documents.

Are you unable to come yourself? You can send someone else. This person must have a power of attorney. This is a written document in which you give this person permission to pick up your documents. This document must also state why you cannot pick up the documents yourself.

Are you an unaccompanied minor? You and your guardian or your guardian alone can collect your documents.
