As an applicant for international protection, you may work as a volunteer. This is a good way to meet new people, learn the language and gain new experiences.

Asylum seekers must respect the rules of the reception centre. 

Are you a victim of human trafficking or human smuggling? Are you exploited by an employer, forced to beg, work as a prostitute or commit a crime? Then you can get protection in Belgium under certain conditions.

If, as an asylum seeker, you are not staying in a reception centre, you can still get medical assistance.

Most shops in Belgium are open from 10am until 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Shops are closed on Sundays.

Asylum seekers can ask help from an interpreter. They will translate the information into a language that the asylum seeker understands.
